By Car
Garching is conveniently connected to the national highway network.
- Via Highway A9 (Nuremberg – Munich): Take exit 70 “Garching-Nord”. Follow the signs toward “Forschungsinstitute” (Research Institutes).
- Route: At the first intersection, turn onto Freisinger Landstrasse, then follow the signs to Lichtenbergstrasse.
- Parking: Designated visitor parking lots are available directly on the campus grounds.
By Public Transportation
From Munich City Center (Marienplatz)
- Take the subway U6 (U-Bahn) toward “Garching-Forschungszentrum”.
- Travel to the final stop “Garching-Forschungszentrum”.
- Lichtenbergstrasse 13 is a 5–7 minute walk from the station.
- Travel time is approx. 30 minutes.
From Munich International Airport (MUC)
- Take the suburban train S1 (S-Bahn) to the “Neufahrn” station.
- Transfer there to regional Bus 690 (toward “Garching-Forschungszentrum”).
- Alternative: By taxi or ride-share service via the A92/A9, the journey takes approx. 15–20 minutes.
- Total travel time via public transit is approx. 45 minutes.
